The Cave

Paraje Otiñar. 0, Jaén

Probably one of the most interesting climbing schools in Andalusia. Its interest is increased by its location in a place of high scenic value. It is a cave with highly difficult itineraries over formations of balls, stalactites and giant chorreras. A complete collection of karst formations (moulded in limestone). This school is a paradise of continuity. The routes are equipped with reliable anchors for sports climbing. The average height is: 25 metres. The maximum is: 30 metres.

Where to sleep - There is a camping area (picnic area) a few kilometres further on, in the Cañada de las Azadillas. You have to ask for permission from the nursery. The proximity of the city of Jaén offers accommodation and restaurants of all categories.

Where to drink - In the cave itself or in the picnic areas.

Notes and warnings: As this is a livestock area, under no circumstances should you climb up when you have won in the cave. High difficulty area. Recommended for climbers who have reached a sufficient level.

How to get there: From Jaén city, take the road to Puente la Sierra, to continue towards the Quiebrajano reservoir. Before reaching the recreational area, there is a lane on the right. Park at the bottom without obstructing the track. There are some interesting climbing areas in this area.
