Aldeas de Río Madera

Singular places

Surrounded by the best black pine forests in Spain, we find the cortijos and villages of the Madera river valley. Of the set we can highlight two: Prados de la Mesta and Arroyo Canales, for being the most significant, although along the road you will see more farmhouses and farmhouses with meadows where you will see farm animals and even the occasional pig, fed , all of them, naturally.

In the Meadows of the Mesta the orchards that surround the houses are still cultivated although at present it is only inhabited for certain times of the year. The GR 147 passes through here towards Los Anchos and we can see some examples of traditional architecture, wrought iron bars, whitewashed walls or wooden doors burned by the sun.

A little further down you can stop at Arroyo Canales, a place known as Río Madera. You cannot miss the last weekend of August to the San José festivities with a small procession, music, dance and of course mountain bowling.
