El Puntal de la Rayuela Forest Trail

This track, which is generally in good condition, leads up to El Puntal, a promontory that stands over 1500 metres high and overlooks the town of Siles. It is home to a lookout hut (used to watch for forest fires) and a launch site for hang-gliders that boasts superb panoramic views. The route also offers opportunities to visit two miradores, or viewing points, and embark on walks to some of the most exquisite beauty spots in the northern part of the park during which you will progress through pine forests populated by Aleppo, Corsican and European black pines.

A little less than 2 kilometres from the starting point you will reach Portichuelo, where you will find the first viewing point and arrows pointing the way to two signposted paths. Further on, at kilometre 5.8, you will see the sign for the La Rayuela viewing point, which offers extraordinary views out over the landscape and is just 5 minutes’ walk from the trail.

Continuing along the main trail, at kilometre 10 you will come across a sign indicating a path towards the left, which leads to El Puntal. The path, which is usually in worse condition than the main trail, is signposted and reaches El Puntal after 3 kilometres.
