Cárcheles

Cárcheles is a small township formed by the merging of Cárchel and Carchelejo in 1974. It’s situated in the south of the province of Jaén, right in the Sierra Sur, on the northeast slopes of the Sierras de los Grajales and Alta Coloma and its municipal area extends down to the Guadalbullón river.

Community life revolves around olives, the township’s main source of income. The oil of Cárcheles is part of the "Sierra Mágina" Designation of Origin. The pork industry is also very important here.

The landscape is steep and mountainous and contains a wide variety of natural sites such as the old convent known as Barranco del Monasterio, the cave of the Puerto de las Palomas, Cazalla and the convent. These are perfect sites for planning a trekking route and you can reach them using any kind of transportation.
