Lupión

Lupión is a small township in the far northwest of the district of La Loma, in the centre of the province.

The village of Guadalimar also makes up part of the township, and the municipal area descends from east to west towards the Guadalimar river, in the basin of the Guadalquivir river in the northern tip of the Baetic mountains.

The town sits on top of a plateau surrounded by olive groves which are an important source of income for the area, along with olive oil production and the cotton plantations on the meadows around the Guadalquivir.

Particular highlights of the town’s historic heritage include the Iglesia de Nuestra Señora de la Asunción (Church of Our Lady of the Assumption), its defensive tower and the fountain.
