Sendero Cerrillo del Plomo

El Cerrillo del Plomo was one of the most productive mines during the Roman period, constituting one of the most important deposits in Spain for the extraction of galena, both for its production and for the quality of the mineral extracted. Galena is a mineral from the sulfide group from which lead and silver are extracted.

Under the rule of the Roman Empire, this silver was sent to Rome, while lead was used to make coins, pots, and coat pipes and roofs. In the middle of the 20th century, the miners called sacagenera removed the entrails of this hill in search of the lead remains that the Romans did not extract.
