The Santa Catalina Periurban Park has an area of 196.85 hectares and is located on Mount Santa Catalina, El Neveral, La Imora and El Almendral, in the municipality of Jaén, which is owned by the Jaén City Council, although it is consortium with the Ministry of the Environment.

The predominant geology is secondary limestone that originate soils of generally poor characteristics and occupied by repopulations of Pinus halepensis (Aleppo pine), carried out during the 1950s.

It is a natural space that traditionally provides a public service for leisure activities, especially to the municipality of Jaén.
